Community Support Program

The Community Support Program is available for individuals 16 years of age and older who experience a persistent mental  illness and who need a more structured environment to acquire necessary interpersonal , social and daily living skills to live a satisfying life in the community. The program is offered in a group setting.

The program is particularly suitable for individuals who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, chronic depression, concurrent disorder (mental illness and an addiction) and dual-diagnosis (mental illness and developmental delay). Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment that supports wellness through social, recreational and educational opportunities.

The group activities are designed to help participants learn and practice new skills, develop self-confidence and feel more comfortable with others within the program and in the community.  The group participants learn to respect and support each other.  This helps them to realize they are not alone.

After an initial assessment, our Community Support Worker will assist you in identifying your goals and objectives. You will receive a monthly calendar of activities planned according to the interests and needs that clients have expressed. You will choose the activities that you wish to attend to meet your objectives.  You can choose to attend all or some of the leisure activities such as bowling, crafts or educational activities such as communication, assertiveness, self-care, relaxation, etc.

If you think that the Community Support Services can help you or one of your family members or a friend cope with a severe mental illness, do not hesitate to contact us.

Services are confidential and free of charge.
